Sue Whorton passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024.

Sue was born to Nellie and George Wells on August 24, 1930 in Douthet, Oklahoma.

After graduating from High School in Pryor, Oklahoma Sue moved to Springfield, MO to attend Southwest Missouri State. After moving back to Pryor, Sue married D.H. (Jim) Whorton on January 1, 1951.They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to start their family.  They had 3 children Gary (Karen), Russ (Pam), and Tani (Chuck) Banta all of Springfield.  In 1965 they moved their family to Springfield from Tulsa.  In 1966, Sue and her sister Maxine Monroe opened their women's clothing store Miss Mizzou Shoppe.  Sue took so much pride in buying for the clothing store and helping her customers find the perfect outfit.  In 1979, Sue and her husband D.H. started their second career.  They opened the first of 5 Whorton's Family Restaurants where many of their customers became lifelong friends.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, D.H.  Sue is survived by her 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
