Obituary

Sue "Oni" Maxwell Dalton was born on February 12, 1915 in Huntsdale Mo., to Paul and Bess Calvin Maxwell. She departed this life on Saturday January 15, 2010. Oni lived most of her life in Columbia Mo., where she married Sam F. Dalton in 1942. Together they operated the Dalton Coal and Concrete Company which she continued to manage after his death. In Columbia, she was affiliated with the King's Daughters and the First Presbyterian Church. Volunteer activities include Meals on Wheels, Boone Hospital Auxiliary, and Ellis Fischel Cancer Research. In 2002 she moved to Springfield and lived at the Cambridge Retirement Apartments. She was predeceased by her husband, Sam; stepdaughter, Carolyn "Muggsie" Patterson; brothers Fred, Glen and John Maxwell; sister, Mary Stotler; and both parents. Surviving are a sister, Sue Ann Dalton and husband Andy, Springfield. Also surviving are six Patterson grandchildren, Dalton, Donald, Daniel, Deborah, Deanne, Denise and many great-grandchildren; niece, Molly Dollus; nephews, Sam and Tom Dalton and Cal Maxwell. Memorial service will be coordinated by Gorman-Scharpf in King's Way United Methodist Church on Sunday January 23rd at 2:30 p.m., with services in Columbia Mo., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to cancer research, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, Development Center, One Hospital Drive, DC066.00, Columbia MO 65212
