Sue Leslie Compton died peacefully in her home on Monday, October 12, 2015 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 81. Sue is survived by her son, Michael Hanchey and wife Karen of Springfield, Missouri; her daughter, Cheri Hanchey, of Springfield, Missouri; her 2 grandchildren, Leslie Hanchey of Springfield, Missouri and Ryan Hanchey and wife Jodi of Kansas City, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Compton of Springfield, Missouri and her parents, Al and Hazel Leslie of Springfield, Missouri. Sue was born on August 6, 1934 in Russellville, Missouri. After being a homemaker for many years, Sue and her family moved to Springfield, Missouri. At that time she began working for Farris Women's Clothing Company as a sales person. She worked there for 30 years until she retired. Sue was accomplished at painting and loved spending time in her yard working on her landscaping. She also adored horse racing and taking care of her many dogs she had over the years. Sue also loved reading and spending time with her grandchildren. A visitation is scheduled Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 10am-11am at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with the memorial service to follow at 11am. Pastor Phillip Wright will officiate the ceremony. A private family burial will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society.
