Steven Michael Maggard, 56, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at his home. He was born in Springfield on July 2, 1960, to his parents, Glenn and Linda (Pile) Maggard.

Steve received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. His life's vocation was spent in developing new applications for near infrared technology devices and installing them in businesses, factories, and laboratories around the world.

He married Karen Diane Holt on May 18, 1985, and they welcomed one son into their family Alexander Lewis.

Steven is survived by his mother, Linda of Springfield; his brother, Russell (Kim Chism Jasper) of Stockton, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn; his wife Karen; and their only son, Alex.

A celebration of life service for Steven will be held on Saturday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m. at King's Way United Methodist Church in the chapel, with interment to follow in the King's Way columbarium.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to any charity of the donor's choice in Steven's memory.
