My champion, Steven Everett Adams, was born June 13, 1952 in Houston, MO to Everett and Mary Adams and departed this life on December 6, 2012 in his home after a valiant battle with metastatic cancer. Steve w2as preceded in death by both parents, both parents-in-law and his best buddies, Snickers and Mutt Sanders. Steve graduated from SMSU with a degree in psychology and philosophy and served his country in the US Air Force where he developed a lifelong love for Thailand. Steve retired as Deputy Warden from Ozark Correctional Center in 2010 after 26 years. His brother hood of co-workers remained steadfast friends during his illness, especially his "Brother from another Mother", George Wesley. Steve and his wife were avid scuba divers and enjoyed exploring the world's oceans and being a part of the trivia team, Mensa Mafia. Steve is survived by his wife, Barbara; one child, Sean Pender and wife Kelly of Morrisville, NC; 4 grandchildren, Tristan, Connor, Ethan and Chloe Pender; one sister, Beth Rime and husband Fred; 2 sisters-in-law, Kathy Kneedler and Patricia Twitty; one niece, Marissa Withers and husband Keith; 2 nephews, Ryan Kneedler and David Rime; 2 great-nieces, Eva Withers and Skylee Wilson and a multitude of friends and colleagues. At Steve's request, no funeral is planned. His body will be cremated and his ashes scattered into the sea he so loved. A memorial service and celebration of Steve's life will be planned by his dear friend, Dr. William Hale, and will be held at a later date. Steve requested that memorial contributions be made to the Animal Welfare or animal rescue group of your choice.
