Steve "Brew" Leon Brewer, 51, Springfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, March 13th, 2013. On March 16th Steve would have been married to his loving wife Susan for 28 years. Brew, #10, was an accomplished baseball catcher and captain of both state championship teams, the 1979 Hillcrest High School Hornets and the 1979 American Legion Hillcrest Merchants. When Steve became a family man, his love of baseball continued through his two sons, Dusty and Lane. He remained an integral part of Springfield area baseball for several years. He was a hard worker at home, at work, and on the ball field. "Papa" as he was known by his grandson, Kaden, was an incredibly loving man. Meeting Steve only once meant you were now under his wing of protection. Steve would do anything for anyone at any time. Steve always had a plan and they were well known to family and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Helen Brewer. He is survived by wife Susan, son Dusty, his wife Medina, and their son Kaden; son Lane, sister Regina, and many other family and friends. Steve was a happy and content man who loved life and didn't want his passing to be marked by a traditional funeral. In keeping with his wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life Open House on April 7th from 1-5pm at the Brewer's home.
