Stephen K. Davis, 62, Springfield, MO left this world peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, after a long illness. He was born November 9, 1946 in Blue Springs, MO to Keith and Audrey Davis. Steve was a man of many talents, whose passion for the Arts he shared with all he came to know. After moving to Springfield in 1961, he graduated from Glendale High School in 1965. He attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO and later Drury College in Springfield. He continued his study of the Arts at the New York Art Institute in New York City. He returned to Springfield to open Stephen's Gallery in 1970; displaying Fine Arts of Multi-media created by local, regional, and nationally celebrated artists. He also assisted in the opening of the Chummings Gallery in Edmond, OK, before returning to Kansas City where he joined the management of the American Heartland Theatre in Crown Center. He remained in Kansas City until the fall of 2008 when, for health reasons, he returned to Springfield and became a resident of James River Care Center. Steve carried a loving and caring attitude throughout his life; always giving and asking little. Where he was, there was warmth and smiles abundant. He will be deeply missed by family and countless special friends. His love for all of us will forever remain in our hearts. His favorite reading is as follows, "Each attachment, each loss, is followed by more rewards and attachments. Loss and death itself are part of life. There is Peace in accepting and living fully in the cycle of seasons." He was preceded in death by his father Keith Davis. Survivors include his mother Audrey Davis, a sister Sharon Farmer and brother Dexter Davis and wife, Jan, all of Springfield. Nieces Heather Davies and husband Ryan of Dayton, OH and Debi Moldenhauer and husband Arnold of Springfield, nephews Joel Davis and wife Allison of Nixa, MO and Michael D. Bates of Springfield.
