Stanley Wayne
Haseltine
January 3, 1949 – May 10, 2026
A life well lived. A man well loved.
Stanley Wayne Haseltine, 77, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2026, with his family by his side. A loving father and grandfather, Stan grew up on a generational family farm in Springfield. He stayed on the farm until his passing, spending as much time as possible outside.
He was born on January 3, 1949, in Springfield, Missouri, to Kenneth B. Haseltine and Geraldine Rose Haseltine. He is survived by his sister Barbara Cohu, of Mount Vernon, and twin brothers, Keith and Kenny Haseltine, of Springfield.
He went to school in Willard, Missouri, graduating from Willard High School in 1966. He continued to meet regularly with his fellow Willard graduates, meeting for breakfast. Stan was looking forward to seeing even more of his former classmates for the upcoming 60th high school class reunion.
He attended college at Southwest Missouri State University, now Missouri State University. He immediately found a home at Sigma Phi Epsilon, where he was a member until his graduation. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.
Stan served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973, trained at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas. He was honorably discharged and received the National Defense Service Medal and was listed as an Expert in Rifle.
Stan was a supervisor at the Springfield United States Postal Service, from which he retired, and he made many lifelong friendships.
Stan has two daughters, Christy Oldani (Tim) of St. Louis and Holly (Chris) Garoutte of Springfield. He was the proud grandfather, known to all as Papa, of Sophia Oldani, Anna Oldani of St. Louis, Foster Garoutte, and Colton Garoutte of Springfield. Over the years, he really enjoyed attending birthday parties, piano recitals, soccer games, and tennis matches. His granddaughters loved it when he came to St. Louis to take them back to school shopping each year. Foster was a daily companion, walking across the farm to check in and sit on the deck with Papa. Colton was always up for hitting golf balls in the backyard field or heading to the pond. Both boys always knew to check for a cold Kit Kat in the fridge.
He was passionate about all sports, especially his beloved Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals. Stan was a pet lover, with many favorites over the years, including dogs Dixie, Hogan, and Honeybear, and cat Oreo. Dogs everywhere were drawn to him.
Stan walked the farm each day, always aware when the barn swallow returned, when the flowers started blooming, and exactly how many turkeys and deer were on the property. Each summer, he had a large vegetable garden that was a highlight for all of the grandkids.
Stan had some incredible, caring, and fun friends over the years. Many stopped by regularly to watch all of the biggest games and have some grilled food.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, favorite uncle Harrold, brother-in-law, Steve Cohu, and niece Ashley Rose Haseltine. He is survived by his daughters, Christy (Tim) Oldani, Holly (Chris) Garoutte, their mother, Carolyn Haseltine, and his long-time friend Katy Tynes. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Cohu, nephews, Jeff (Jan) Cohu, Eric (Carolyn) Cohu, and family. Brother Keith (Becky) Haseltine, children Amanda and Matt (Erin) Haseltine. Brother Kenny Haseltine, niece Liz (Ryan) Van Oost.
Grandchildren: Sophia & Anna Oldani, Foster & Colton Garoutte, and many great nieces and nephews.
