Shirley J. Sherrell, 74 of Springfield daughter of Lloyd and Susie Tucker was born on February 13, 1948 in Lebanon, Missouri. Shirley went to her Heavenly home on August 12, 2022 at home.
Shirley grew up in Bourbon, Missouri and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She graduated from Bourbon High School in 1966. She moved to Springfield where she was a resident most of her life. She gave birth to daughter, Karen in March of 1968. Shirley was employed at the Springfield News Leader for several years.
On September 18, 1981 she was married to Richard Joseph Sherrell. Shirley and Rick loved to go fishing and camping every chance they could. Shirley loved to cook and sew and she made many gifts by hand with much love.
Surviving her are her husband of 41 years, Rick Sherrell of the home; her daughter, Karen Nehl and husband, Joe of Springfield; granddaughters, Rachel Shellhorn-Hill and husband, Cody of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Kayla Francis and husband, Phillip of Marionville, Missouri and Sarah Ditto and husband, Joel of Clever, Missouri; two great-children, Aiden and Hallie; her sisters, Janice Betherum and husband, Dwight of Springfield, Linda Piore of Jefferson City, Missouri and Mary Hulsey of Sullivan, Missouri; brother-in-law, Larry Sherrell and wife, Tonya of Springfield; sisters-in-law, Ruth Sherrell and Jane Tucker and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert and Glenn; sister Jane; brothers-in-law, Ron, Kenny, Neil and Donnie; sister-in-law, Kathy; niece, Sonya; in-laws, Betty and Don Sherrell and step-son, Brian Sherrell.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, August 15, 2022 from 6:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
