Shirley Rice, 83, of Springfield, MO passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 after a short illness.  She was born December 13, 1940 to Abraham Lincoln Hopkins and Winnie (Ramey) Hopkins near Jasper, AR.

As a young girl, her family moved to Christian County, MO, and Shirley was a 1958 graduate of Ozark High School.  She retired after 30 years from Kraft Foods in Springfield.  She was a member of National Avenue Assembly of God Church.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her half-brother, Bob Hopkins.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Cates (Randy) of Springfield, MO; grand-daughter, Alyssa  Yarnton (Michael), Springfield, MO; grandson, Cole Cates; great grandson, Roman Yarnton; step-daughter, Paula (Steve) Mangan of Rogersville, MO; and step-son, Danny Rice (Debbie).

Graveside Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm in Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks. 949 East Primrose Street, Springfield, MO 65807, or online, in Shirley's memory.
