IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Vodene
Park
November 8, 1935 – November 8, 2022
Shirley Vodene (Edwards) Park was born November 8, 1935, to John Roland and Alta Edith (Nelson) Edwards in Thayer, Missouri, and entered heaven's gates surrounded by her family on her 87 th birthday, November 8, 2022, in Ozark, Missouri.
Shirley accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior as a child and sought Him all the days of her life. She graduated in 1953 from Thayer High School. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, John Russell Park, in the chapel of Burge Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church, a prayer warrior and active in Bible study as long as she was able. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (MaShirley), great-grandmother (MaSugar), sister, aunt, and friend to many who became chosen family. She was an incredible cook and baker, a voracious reader and lover of ALL music—especially that performed by her family.
She worked as a legal assistant, church secretary and successful business owner and was known professionally for her knowledge, incomparable skills and excellent work ethic.
Shirley is survived by her son Kim Park of Springfield, MO; daughters Katy Park Day (Kraig) of Springfield, MO, and Suzy Park Hosmer (James) of Davenport, FL; daughter-in-love Yonna (Wilson) Park; grandchildren Shane Park; Keelan, Kason (Rachel), and Kolton Day; and Karah Carpenter (Hayes); 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, John; son, Kit Park; parents; brothers Thomas, Vernon and Norman Edwards; and sisters Tressa (Edwards) Linson, Ruth (Edwards) Way and Ruby (Edwards) Johnson.
