Shirley Faye Kragel, 77, went to be with Jesus on July 24, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born March 15, 1936 to Anderson and Beulah (Lee) Collum in Atlanta, Georgia. Shirley was known for three things: her faith, her family, and her food. She was a born again believer of Jesus Christ and lived each day with a deep passion for Him. She served the Lord with joy and courage until her final moment here on Earth. She was a wife of 53 years to Harry Kragel and a proud mama to 7 children. She was also a grandmother to 22 and great-grandmother to 17, with two more on the way! There was nothing she enjoyed more than seeing her family together, swapping stories and sharing smiles. And gracious, could Shirley cook! She poured her heart and southern soul into every meal, every pie, every jar of her famous apple butter. Her food was her ministry, the way she demonstrated her sweet servant's heart. She loved being able to meet the needs of others in a tangible way and food was most often her avenue. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Anderson Collum and Beulah (Lee) Collum, and her sister, Betty Jean Collum. She is survived by her seven children, Vickie (Kragel) Hagwood, Janice (Kragel) Bryan, Ralph "Tony" Kragel, Harry Kragel III, David "Michael" Kragel, Mark Kragel, Paula "Michelle" (Kragel) Howard, and her sister Billie (Collum) Waldrop. She is also survived by her 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
