Obituary

Shirley Ann Dike was born on November 1, 1931 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  She was the youngest of five daughters of Albert and Johanna DeRoo.  She departed this life for her heavenly home on January 6, 2018.

When she was twelve years of age the family moved to San Antonio, Texas where in 1952 she met John (Jack) Dike of Windermere, FL.  They were married on January 3, 1953.

Shirley was a devoted wife and homemaker.  She also spent many years working with children in the public library system in St. Peters, MO and Summerville, SC.

A committed Christian who served as a leader in children's, women's and senior ministries.  She was an avid storyteller with storyteller groups in FL and MO.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Caroline Rawlines, Eleanor Fuchs, Wilma Jean West and Betty Miller; younger brother Albert DeRoo Jr.; son Jeffery Dike; and daughter-in-law Penny K. Dike.

Survivors include husband John; sons Bernard and wife Carol and family, William and family; daughter Barbara and husband Donald Kimberly and family; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.  Private interment will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
