Shirley Ann Carr, age 84, died July 15, 2014 in The Manor at Elfindale, Springfield, MO. She was born July 27, 1929 to Fred Carr and Dorothy Teeter Carr. She attended Greenwood and Southwest Missouri State College graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. She earned her Masters Degree at Drury College. She taught 2nd grade at Westport and Portland schools. After retiring, she volunteered as a Docent at the Springfield Art Museum. She was a member of Springfield Retired Teachers, Delta Kappa Gamma, Springfield Symphony Guild, Sigma Kappa Sorority and Central Christian Church. Shirley loved to travel, be with her friends, work in her garden, and take care of her cats. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her cousins Barbara Warren, Nyla West, Ramona Teeter and Judy Irwin. We would like to thank The Manor at Elfindale and Good Shepherd Hospice for the wonderful care given to Shirley. Visitation will be Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Ron Routledge officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or Central Christian Church.
