Shelby L. Jones, age 80, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Glendale Gardens in Springfield, MO. He had fought a courageous battle against Parkinson's and Dementia.
He was born July 1, 1942 to Bill and Alma (Cobb) Jones in Halfway, MO. He shared his childhood home with his siblings Maxine, Calvin, Harold, Joye and Harlan. He was saved at the age of 15 and became a member of Schofield Missionary Baptist Church and later True Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield, MO, where he served as a Deacon. He attended Halfway, MO schools and graduated in 1960. He attended Southwest Missouri State University for one year. He became an employee of Associated Wholesale Grocers and retired in October of 1998 after serving 36 years as a Shipping Manager.
Shelby was married to Frances Blevins on March 28, 1965. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage and two children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maxine Lawson (Herb); brother, Dr. Harold Jones; brother-in-law, Lowell Blevins; niece, Twyla Choate and parents-in-law Orville and Blanche Bevins.
Shelby is survived by his wife; son, Dr. Kevin Jones (Shelly) of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Cynthia Jones Collins (Ray) of Strafford, MO; grandsons Henry Jones (fiancé Lauren Raker) of Greenwood, IN and Nathan Collins (fiancé Rachel Johnston) of Springfield; sister, Joye Sumner of Springfield; brothers Calvin Jones (Emma Lee) of Lamar, MO and Harlan Jones of Canton, GA; sister-in-law, Geraldine Jones of Springfield; brother-in-law, David Blevins (Badeth) of Springfield and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 12, also at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Schofield Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Halfway, MO.
He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends. He will always be a part of us and in our hearts.
