IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shawn
Snider
June 8, 1962 – May 12, 2017
Shawn Neal Snider, age 54, departed this world far too soon on the morning of Friday, May 12, 2017, surrounded by those who loved him most in his Springfield home.
After graduating from Mansfield High School in 1980, Shawn began a 30+ year healthcare career, first becoming certified as a Radiologic and Ultrasound Technologist before earning both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in hospital administration from Ottawa University and Central Michigan University, respectively. For his last 16 working years Shawn served as the System Director of Radiology at CoxHealth. He also has served as President of the Missouri Society of Radiologic Technologists and as an examiner for the Missouri Quality Awards.
Shawn married the love of his life, Patricia Moore, on October 10, 1986. To this union two sons were born: Samuel Adam (Jessica) Snider and Joseph Ryan Snider.
Shawn is survived by his wife, children, mother Linda Snider, sisters Sherie Wymore and Neta (Mike) Sedlak, brother Nolan (Debbie) Snider, mother-in-law Virginia Moore, sister-in-law Teresa (Sid) Norris, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ovis Snider, and father-in-law, Terence Moore.
Shawn was a beloved son, husband, father, and friend known for his kind heart, unparalleled work ethic, and razor sharp wit. He was also an avid fan of Cardinals baseball and a talented cook.
A memorial service will be held at Schweitzer United Methodist Church, where he was an active member who loved singing in the choir, on Saturday, May 20, 2017. A visitation will begin at 9:30 am followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 am. His final resting place will be at Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Services are under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to any of the following organizations: CoxHealth Foundation, 3525 S. National, Suite 204, Springfield, MO 65807 for the establishment of the Shawn Snider Memorial Radiology Scholarship Fund; the Head for the Cure Foundation at headforthecure.org (look for Shawn's name under the Memorials section); and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org.
