IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon C.
Waldrep
February 4, 1933 – March 11, 2025
Sharon Waldrep Feb. 4, 1933 - March 11, 2025 Gone from the body, present with the Lord, always remembered in the hearts of so many! Sharon was born the fifth daughter, to Barney and Aurora Kratt.
She was raised on a chicken farm where her Barney provided eggs and chickens to stores in Wynona, Michigan and ice blocks to all his neighbors. She was venturous spirit and a pretty good shot with a riffle. At a young age they had a bear attacking the chickens and her and her daddy laid up on top of the chicken coupe waiting for the bear to come back, she shot and killed the bear. Her adventurous side came out again at 18 when she took a train across country from upper Michigan to live in Arizona. She loved the warmer weather! There she met John Hughes on a rainy day as she boarded a bus and he was the driver, they soon married and had five children. She was a great mom, with good skills like home cooking, canning, and sewing, she sewed almost all the clothes until her children were teens. Living in the country , she was the lover of all of the animals from many cats and dogs and chickens and rabbits and horses, a donkey, a pig and a few goats! Her husband, John died after a 37 year marriage and then she met Jim Waldrep who also had five adult children, he brought to her a life of travel and adventures. Within their 27 years of marriage Jim and Sharon traveled to many states to see family and all the sites along the way.
She had a career in Civil Services for the Air Force starting as an accounting clerk at the treasures office, working her way up to Supervisor and Trainer of Accounting Services of 5 states before she retired with the highest rank of a civil service employee. With quite a thick folder of all her certificates and awards, her life was lived fully, but it was her family, that she loved the most.
She will be greeted in heaven by those that preceded her in death her first husband John and second husband Jim, two children EA Rory Hughes Gonzalas, son in law Joe G, and her son Joel Hughes. Her parents, and her four sisters. She is survived by her children, Karen Swan, Juanita (Pat Redden) and Martin Hughes, Ronnie (Cathy) Waldrep, Byron (Erica) Waldrep, Roger Waldrep, Gina and Debbie! And so so many grandchildren and great grandchildren and even great, great grandchildren! Also two very special friends Dorothy Sherman and Cathy Henry. She said if I am missed that must mean I am remembered, hopefully by more than a few! Her favorite Bible verse Philipians 4:6-7, She cared very much, loved and prayed for many and forgave all! We love you and will miss you Mama!
We will have a Celebration of her Life, Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 2-4pm at 210 E. Weaver Rd. Springfield, MO The home of Judy (oldest granddaughter) and Bill Poland.
