Friday, August 16, 2024, Sharon Eileen Rogers, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many left this world at the age of 81 after a year long battle with dementia.
Sharon was born August 4, 1943 in El Paso, TX to Alveeta and William Cave.
Sharon met William "Bill" Kovacs in 1965 in Denver, CO and they were married on New Year's Eve that same year. When they decided to start a family in 1969, they came to Springfield, MO. Together they adopted two children.
After their divorce, Sharon met and married Perry Van Rogers in 1982. She became a stepmother to Anthony after the marriage. Together, Sharon and Perry built a life together in Springfield. They loved to travel together and took various trips around the US.
Sharon enjoyed quilting and made several beautiful quilts that she put in shows and won medals for. She was interested in genealogy and researched her family tree diligently. She was in the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed meeting the other members. She also liked to travel to civil war battle reenactments.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Wilson (Todd); son, Mike Kovacs (Candace); step-son, Anthony Rogers; sister, Barbara Sellers (Tommy); and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Amma Alveeta Treon, father Pleasant William Cave, brother, William "Billy" Everett Cave, husband, Perry Van Rogers and ex-husband, William "Bill" Kovacs.
The family of Sharon would like to thank the caregivers at The Oaks Cottage in Ozark, MO for the love and care they gave her over the past 9 months. Dementia is a cruel disease and she received the best care possible at The Oaks Cottage.
