Scott Emes Mattlage, age 64, of Springfield Missouri, passed away suddenly in Springfield on August 23 ^rd , 2021. Scott shared his birthday with his mother and was her "birthday present" when he was born July 6 ^th , 1957 in Springfield Missouri to Marian and Floyd Mattlage.

Scott was survived by his mother, Marian Mattlage; brother, Stephen and his wife, Donna Mattlage; and his bride of 26 years, Connie Hopkins-Mattlage who was reunited with Scott when she passed on September 29 ^th of 2021.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Edna Mattlage and Hugo and Leona Wriedt; and his father, Floyd Mattlage.

Scott was a 1975 graduate of Glendale Highschool in Springfield, MO. and he received his Bachelor of Industrial Management Engineering from SMS. He married, in his words, his "MUCH BETTER HALF!", Connie Hopkins-Mattlage on July 29 ^th , 1995.

Those who were privileged enough to know Scott will tell you he was a one of a kind man with a heart more pure than gold. As a young man Scott was baptized at Trinity Lutheran in Springfield MO, he was active in Boy Scout Troop 31 and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He carried the spirit of scouting out throughout his life and rarely missed an opportunity to "Do a Good Turn Daily". Scott was a world traveler with an intrepid spirit. He was an avid outdoorsman who relished in the majesty of the Ozarks, whether he was fishing and floating a scenic riverway or embracing the thrill of the hunt his heart was content in the grandeur of nature. As a man of refined taste, when not on adventure the aroma of fine cigars and BBQ meant Scott was near and generally cooking for others. With the heart of a host, he served and gave to others with an uncompromising passion for love and friendship to all those who were blessed to know him.

Scott has been interred at Hazelwood cemetery in Springfield MO.

A joint memorial service for both Scott and Connie will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on October 30 ^th 2021 at 1:30 P.M. A joint celebration of life will follow immediately after at The Old Glass Place at 521 E St. Louis St, Springfield, MO 65806 from 2:30 to 4:30.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation.
