IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Scott Edward
Grassa
April 3, 1987 – June 9, 2025
Scott Edward Grassa, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on June 9th, 2025, following a brief illness. After a life filled with so much love, too many laughs, and just a little rowdiness, Scott has gone on to join his family in eternal peace.
Scott was born on April 3rd, 1987, in Lehigh County, PA to Patricia Jane (Martin) Grassa and Edward Joseph Grassa. He was the younger brother of Michael, his best friend and closest companion later in life. Scott spent his early years living in Minnesota and Texas before the family settled down in Springfield, MO, where he would build a lifetime of good friends and unforgettable memories.
Scott attended Glendale High School, where he played football and graduated in 2005. His cheeky grin and genuine kindness earned him many friends (and girlfriends, of course) throughout his life. Scott's smile was contagious, and he wouldn't rest until everyone around him was taken care of first.
Scott was extremely close with his family. He regularly referred to his dad as his best friend, bonding over their shared obsession with football (Fly Eagles Fly!), cooking, and game nights. The only woman to ever truly hold Scott's heart was his mother Patricia, whom he doted on whenever possible and helped care for in her final years. Scott had a close-knit family of aunts, uncles and cousins, with whom he loved spending holidays (Thanksgiving was always at the Grassa's), family vacations, and treasured trips to Pittsburgh & Philadelphia for Eagles, Pirates, and Penguins games, and of course, Primanti Bros.
With a strong love for community and giving back, Scott was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason at Strafford Lodge #608 and was a longtime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Springfield Lodge #409. His home away from home, he was always quick to volunteer to cook and serve at lodge functions and special events, and he spent many unforgettable nights with his chosen family watching Eagles games, drinking screwdrivers, and usually chatting up a lady friend or two.
Scott continued his journey by joining the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple in Springfield, MO. He was a proud Shriner, active in the Greeters unit and a cherished member of the cook and bar crew, where he earned the nickname "Lunchbox." Scott was always volunteering for Shrine community events and concerts and was always the first to offer a helping hand when needed.
Scott is preceded in death by his father Ed, mother Patricia, and brother Michael. He is survived by his Aunt Sandy and the late Charles Simon, Aunt Marty and Uncle Mike Jones, Uncle Butch and Aunt Maria Martin, Aunt Claire and the late Gerald Sharkey, Aunt Chrissy and Uncle Eric Meduho, Uncle Henry and Aunt Donna Grassa, many dear cousins, and a long line of treasured friends who became family.
A Celebration of Life for Scott will be held at the Elks Lodge #409 on Friday, June 27th, from 3-6 PM, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be announced at a later date.
