Sarah Kathryn “Cathy” Williams, 91, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on August 16, 2026, in Springfield, MO.

Cathy will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her strong spirit, generous heart, sense of humor, and love of family.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Samual Asa Kinney and Hazel Marie Kinney, her sister, Ellen West, her brothers, Cal Kinney; Sam Kinney; Bud Kinney, and her beloved husband, Curtice Williams, and her daughter, Carolyn Thomas. She is survived by her children, John Williams and wife Ramona; Curt Williams; Keith Williams and wife Laurel; and Kenny Williams and wife Celes; as well as her sister, Gussie Worstell. She was a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy and meaning to her life.

Cathy had a lifelong love of horses and was especially devoted to the Missouri Fox Trotting breed. Her passion and dedication earned her a place in the Missouri Foxtrotting Breed Hall of Fame. She loved attending horse shows and enjoyed the excitement, friendships, and memories that came with them.

She also loved reading and playing cards, especially poker. Cathy was a very successful poker player and thoroughly enjoyed the game. Penny-ante poker was her favorite. One of the family’s favorite memories was watching Curtice lose his pot and then reach over to take a little from Cathy’s winnings so he could continue playing. It was a comical and endearing part of their lives together and a perfect example of the fun and companionship they shared.

Cathy’s love of family, horses, cards, reading, and a good laugh made her life full of stories and memories that will be treasured by those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, and the many lives she touched.

Per Cathy’s wishes, no formal funeral will be performed but a brief graveside gathering will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri, on a date to be determined to reunite her ashes with Curtice’s.

Her family is grateful for the love, friendship, and kindness shown to Cathy throughout her life.
