Sarah May (Marek) Franklin was born on August 23, 1917, to Walter and Verda Van De Mark and passed away on June 23, 2011. Preceding her in death were husband Charles Marek, siblings Carl Van De Mark, Velma Foraker, and Lucile Patterson, later husbands George Lucas and Tom Franklin. Surviving loved ones are her brother, George Van De Mark (wife Betty), sons David Marek, Doug Marek, Steve Marek (wife Sherre), granddaughters Susan LaBarr (husband Cameron), Kate Blythe (husband Aaron), and great-granddaughter Elizabeth Blythe. Sarah graduated from Lamar High School in 1935 and was an office manager at MidWest Plant Food and Wilbert Burial Vaults through the '60's and 70's. She was a member of Campbell Methodist Church in Springfield. A memorial service will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home at 11:00 am on June 28, with interment at a later date in Springfield National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Campbell United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
