Watson
January 3, 1947 – July 4, 2018
Sanford Duvall Watson passed away July 4, 2018. He was born January 3, 1947 to Jean Jewell Duvall Watson and Arch A. Watson in Springfield, Missouri.
Sandy attended Delaware, Jarrett, Parkview and graduated from Wentworth Military Academy. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Sandy began working at the family business, Springfield Newspapers, at the age of 16. He worked in many departments learning the business, finding his place in the photography department. Sandy shared the Ozarks' news through photographs until 1992. He was a longtime member of Springfield Rod and Gun Club and Elks Lodge #409 (B.P.O.E.) (Table 6).
Sandy loved spending time with his family enjoying the outdoors, whether it be hanging out at Table Rock Lake, floating a river or camping in the deer words. He also enjoyed upland bird hunting, driving his Vintage '63 Corvette and riding his Harley. He will always be remembered for his storytelling and friendliness, he never met a stranger.
Sandy was preceded in death by his parents and cousin/friend K.G. Wells, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Linda; three children Justin Dement and wife Lisa, Geoffrey Watson and Ashley Watson Birtciel and husband Tyler, along with their children Bailey Jewell and Cash Quentin; brother, Arch W. Watson; sister Jean Marie and husband Ken Willoughby. Also surviving is a stepdaughter Michele Gray and husband Brian and their son Jake Gray and wife Alli. Sandy leaves behind his lifelong friend, Don Tillman, as well as many others.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8:00 PM, Monday, July 9, 2018 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Maple Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Conservation Federation of Missouri, 728 West Main, Jefferson City, MO 65101,
