Sandra Kay Chittim Yaktine, age 54 of Springfield, Missouri passed away at 4:30 a.m. September 13, 2011 in St. John's Hospital. She enjoyed the care of Hospice as she approached the end of her two year journey through the many challenges that breast cancer brought her. Always encouraging to those around her, she is remembered for her strength, courage, and her kind heart. Although her time here was short, she was at peace with the knowledge that another greater greeting awaited her in the Lord. She will be missed by so many. She was highly respected by her colleagues at Coldwell Banker-Vanguard Realtors. She is remembered for her fine contributions of time, energy, and enthusiasm to Binnie Clements Guild at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church where she was a member and to the Junior League of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Dixie Chittum. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, David L. Yaktine, her son Matthew D. Yaktine, her daughter Aleena M. Yaktine, and her sister Sally A. Richardson and family. Sandra's services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with Reverend Lori Lampert officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, Rogersville. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday September 15th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CASA of Southwest Missouri, 1111 South Glenstone, Springfield, Missouri 65804. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Albert Leonardo, Dr. Gary Hoos, and the many nurses and care givers that administered to her needs during the last two years. We especially thank her nurse Wendy and other Hospice staff for their compassionate care both in our home and the hospital. To the many family, friends and co-workers that have been with us in prayer through this trying time, we extend our deepest gratitude.
