Mrs. Sandra (Sandy) J. Pomrening, of Springfield, Missouri went home to her Lord and Savior on May 13, 2014 at the age of 72. Sandy was born July 18, 1941, in Joplin, Missouri and graduated from Neosho High School in 1959. She married Roy P. Pomrening in 1965, and they lived together in Pensacola, FL, Seattle, WA, Fort Collins, CO, and Antioch, IL, before relocating to Springfield, MO in 1996. Sandy was an active member of her church and Bible studies, loved to engage in thoughtful discussions, and expressed God's love to others through acts of kindness such as baking, knitting, and lending a compassionate ear. She was preceded in death by her brothers Donald Duncan and Randy Royal. She is survived by her husband, Roy P. Pomrening; children, Norman P. Pomrening and wife Anthoula Pomrening, Brian D. Pomrening and wife Holly Pomrening, and Kristie K Hornberger and husband Robert Hornberger; sisters-in-law Sharon Duncan and Alta Royal; nephews Mark Duncan and wife Becky Duncan, Greg Nichol and wife Joanna Nichol, John Nichol, and Susan Keating and husband David Keating; nieces Jody Armstrong and husband Scott Armstrong, and Deeana Duncan; and her five grandchildren, Shanea Simmerman, Christian, Sophia, Alexandra, and Caleb Pomrening, and Samuel Hornberger. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m., and services at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri, with the Reverend Greg Ellis officiating. No burial service is scheduled.
