IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sam Hamra,
Iii
February 21, 1959 – June 2, 2024
Sam F. Hamra III (Sammy), age 65, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 surrounded by his family. Sam was survived by his parents Sam F. Hamra and June S. Hamra; his siblings, sister Karen Groves and husband Bob Groves of Battlefield, MO, brother Mike Hamra and wife Eileen Hamra of Springfield, MO, sister Jackie Mesa and husband Carlos Mesa of Bethesda, MD., and brother Brad Smith and wife Dee Smith of Springfield, MO. Sammy is also survived by his daughter Cynthia Toolen and husband Rob Toolen of Reeds Spring, MO, and his son John F. Hamra and wife Kari Hamra of Springfield, MO. Sammy had three grandchildren, Kaiden Toolen (child of Cynthia and Rob Toolen) and Sawyer and Scout Hamra (children of John and Kari Hamra).
Sam loved hiking, white water rafting, the great outdoors, and earned his Eagle Scout while in high school. Sam graduated from Glendale High School in 1977, where he was recognized for being one of the top creative artists and subsequently applied his creative skills to creating custom jewelry. He went on to receive a diploma from the Springfield Board of Education in Technology and Business. Sammy's greatest hobbies were cars, hot rods, and motorcycles. He was an encyclopedia filled with a wealth of knowledge about each of his hobbies. Sammy was also an avid car show enthusiast and on any given first Saturday of the month, you would find him at Steak 'n Shake for the car shows. Sammy's greatest joy were his children Cynthia and John and he loved spending quality time with his grandchildren.
Sammy's infectious smile and caring heart were always present in his empathy and love for others. His passing has left a great hole in our family, and we will miss him dearly.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots.
