Sally Hoy Payne, age 76, passed away on March, 18, 2009. She was the daughter of Wesley and Edna Hoy and was born near Cabool, Mo., March 20, 1932. The family moved to Springfield, where Sally graduated from Greenwood H.S. in 1950. Upon graduating from MSU, with majors in Art and Music, she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study art in Oslo University in Norway. Sally married Robert W. Payne of Springfield, Mo., in 1955. They were divorced in 1974. From this marriage, a daughter, Nancy Teresa (Teri) Payne was born in 1957. Her many achievements include participating in several symphonies as a cellist. She also played many other instruments. Sally was well known for her art talent and delighted many with her sketches, sculpture, and oil paintings. Sally is survived by her daughter, Teri and husband, Mike Goebel and grandchildren, Lauren and Kevin Goebel, from Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy, and husband, Murray Tiffany of Kimberling City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Sally in death were her parents, Wesley and Edna Hoy and her brother, Donald J. Hoy. Friends may call after 2 p.m., Friday, March 20, in Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole at 2 p.m., on March 20, 2009. Graveside services will be held at Maple Park Cemetery at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2009.
