Obituary

Sally Miller Patton was born on March 9, 1933 in St Louis, Missouri to Mary W. Miller and Elwyn J. Miller. She went to heaven with family by her side on April 21, 2025.

Her love for art, nature and all things creative taught us about the sheer joy of simple pleasures. A talented artist, her favorite medium was watercolor. She loved gardening, antiques, sports and the great outdoors.

Sally loved all of these things but she ADORED her grandchildren and her children with a fierce and devoted love ~ son Mike Patton (Becky), daughter Amy Hughes (Tom), grandchildren James Patton (Ann), Lorren Patton Miller (Jacob), Carly, David, and Laura Hughes, and great grandchildren Aiden Patton and Jack Miller.

Sally was loyal and devoted to her many lifelong friends. Her keen sense of humor and love for fun were shared by all of them. Among many activities, she enjoyed her bridge group of 50+ years, The Springfield Museum of Art League and First & Calvary Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon and, of course, on the art committee working to refurbish the stained glass windows.

Growing up in St. Louis, Sally attended Kirkwood High School. She was a cheerleader, played many sports including field hockey and soccer, was elected to Girl's State, elected Governor, then attended Girl's Nation in D.C.

Sally attended the University of Missouri at Columbia where she was a proud member of Tri Delta sorority and on the homecoming court. There she met Jim Patton, they married and had 2 children, Mike and Amy, eventually settling in Springfield, Missouri.

A family graveside service will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery at a later date under the care of Gorman Scharph Funeral Home.
