Sallie Mae Sears died on October 31, 2012 at the Ozarks Methodist Manor. Sallie was born on October 9, 1913 in Enterprise, Alabama. She was the daughter of Lora Elizabeth Helms Jones and William Hugh Jones. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 17th at the United Methodist Church in Marionville, MO. At age 17 Sallie moved to Taft, CA where she graduated from Taft High School. She attended The Teachers College in Santa Barbara for three years. Sallie married Osro Hogan Sears in 1936 and they made their home in Bakersfield, CA. In 1951 the family moved to West Plains, MO. In 1982 she moved with O.H. to the Ozarks Methodist Manor in Marionville, MO. She lived at the Manor for the remainder of her life. O.H. and son David preceded her in death. She leaves behind three children, Bettie Atha (Dan), Sallie Ameling (Jerry), Joe Sears (Glenise) and daughter-in-law Barbara Sears. She is survived by grandchildren Julie, Matthew, Mark, Jon-David, Joe, Sam and Steve plus four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Sallie enjoyed gardening, reading, walking and cooking. She was a member of United Methodist Women for more than 60 years. Her faith and family were important in her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sallie and O.H. Sears Scholarship Fund at Saint Paul's School of Theology in Kansas City, MO. These contributions should be sent to the United Methodist Church, 117 S. College, Marionville, MO 65705.
