Ruth McLean Stenton Wilson went to be with her Lord on October 9, 2016 at the age of 104 years and 3 months. Ruth was born July 2, 1912 in Clifton Hill, MO the daughter of George and Lillian Stenton.

Ruth attended Clifton Hill School 1st - 12th grade. She played basketball and was on the all county team. She then attended Howard Payne College in Fayette, MO for three years. She returned to Clifton Hill to teach grades 1st-4th in a one-room classroom.

In 1932 she met the love of her life Wilbert Wilson who had opened a grocery store in Clifton Hill. They were married May 11, 1934 and traveled to California on their honeymoon. They liked it so well they stayed in California for 64 years. Their children Raymond Allen and Margaret Louann were born in Los Angeles.

In California, Wilbert owned and operated a car agency for 36 years with Ruth right by his side. Ruth and Wilbert returned to Missouri in 1998 to be near their children in Springfield.

They were married 76 years. Wilbert passed in 2010 at 100 years and 5 months. Ruth is also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Patton and Georgia Hardgrove, and one brother, Tom. Ruth is survived by her two children and their spouses; adopted daughter, Doris Allen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, October 14, 2016 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, Springfield, MO. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Clifton Hill, MO at the Clifton Hill Community Church at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time in the church. Burial will follow in Clifton Hill Cemetery.
