Ruth Marie Squires, 89, of Springfield, passed away Feb. 24, 2016 in James River Care Center. She was born May 18, 1926 in Springfield to Leonard B. and Rosa Steury Kennemer.

A lifelong resident of the Springfield area, Ruth was a graduate of Strafford High School and attended SMS Teacher's College. She married Elmer H. Squires on Dec. 4, 1955 at Oakland UMC, where she was a lifelong member. Ruth belonged to the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #85 and United Methodist Women.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her son, Walter W. Squires, numerous cousins, friends and extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Private family burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Building Fund, 601 St. Louis St, Springfield, MO, 65806.
