Ruth Daniels Quinn was born February 14, 1924 to James and Cora Daniels in Castle, Oklahoma. She was the sixth child born of one brother and nine sisters. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel E. Sr., both parents, one brother Earnest, and five sisters: Bertha, Ozie, Lillian, Aunessia and Maxine. Ruth received her education in the IXL, Sand Creek, and Boley school system. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas and her Master's Degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater Oklahoma. She taught Mathematics at the Boley State School for Boys and at Boley Middle and High School until her retirement. As a life long educator, Ruth valued the importance of education and encouraged not only her own children, but also her many nieces and nephews as well as the many students she taught during her storied career. Ruth was a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the Okfuskee County Retired Teachers Association and also a member of the Pleasant Hill A.M. E. Church. Ruth married Nathaniel Quinn Sr. in June 1957. This cherished couple was blessed with three children - Nathaniel E. Jr., Valecia Annette, and Karl James. Ruth spent the majority of her life living, working and serving in the community of IXL. The last five precious years of her life were spent in Springfield, MO near her children and grandchildren. Ruth battled a series of illnesses for many years until her death, March 14, 2010. She is survived by: Her daughter, Valecia, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Her sons, Nathaniel Eugene Jr. (Tammy), of Springfield, Missouri and Karl James (Lynda) of Springfield, Missouri. Her sisters, Lurlean Hunt and Vivian Daniels, of Wichita, Kansas and Lula Mae Marzett (McKinley) of Spencer, Oklahoma. Her granddaughters, Claire Quinn, Elizabeth Quinn, and Erica Holden. Her grandsons, Spencer Quinn and Winston Quinn and many scores of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Pleasant Hill A.M.E.
