Ruth Esther Mullikin, 85, Springfield, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in Quail Creek. She was born February 4, 1929 in Stuttgart, Germany, the daughter of Adolf and Karoline Haug. On September 26, 1953, she married Everett Mullikin and immigrated to the United States of America in 1954, and became a U.S. Citizen in 1957. Mrs. Mullikin graduated from MSU in 1969 with a B.S. in Education and from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1970 with a M.A. in German. She taught German at MSU and Drury College, and was a member of Delta Phi Alpha. She is survived by one local niece, Margaret Still, many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends; and a cousin, Roland Hehn and family in Germany. Mrs. Mullikin has been a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church for over 30 years, and has been an active member of St. Monica's Guild. Ruth volunteered for many church activities throughout these years. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Fergus Monaghan celebrant, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Springfield National Cemetery. No vitiation is planned.
