Ruth Aline Lynch, September 9, 1963 - February 4, 2023

Ruth Aline Lynch passed away on February 4 at the age of 59 in her home in Springfield, Missouri. Ruth will be remembered for her love of eclectic music, animals, bubbles and beautiful cloud formations.

Ruth was born to Samuel and Sara Lynch on September 9, 1963, just 17 months after her older brother, James, was born. She spent her childhood in Springfield, Missouri climbing onto clothesline poles with friends, running around barefoot, and creating silly recordings on cassette tapes to make her younger sisters, Kathy and Janet, laugh.

In college, Ruth followed her father's footsteps by majoring in Mathematics. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and became a talented math tutor, able to help students raise their grades dramatically in a short amount of time. On October 7, 1992, Ruth gave birth to Olyvia Leigh Lynch, now Olyvia Hilburn. Ruth brought immense joy and light into this world through Olyvia. We are forever grateful to Ruth for the gift of her daughter!

Later in life, Ruth began to live a vegan lifestyle, calling attention to the importance of caring for the earth and all of God's creation. Her passionate attitude towards our four-footed friends and conservation inspired others to live more responsibly and less wastefully, respecting this precious world that we share.

Ruth is survived by her parents, Samuel and Sara Lynch, her brother, James Lynch, her sisters Kathy Hughes and Janet Gesme, and her daughter, Olyvia Hilburn.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
