Ruth Arlene Alday, 87, Springfield, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014. She is survived by husband Carl; son Don & Jennifer Ailor; son Dale & Mary; son Dennis & Becky; daughter DeeAnn & Don Evans; grandchildren Dolan, Dalton, Jennifer, Laura, David, Katie, Joe, Tom & Sam; great-granddaughter Cloe; step-grandchildren Anthony & Andrea; step-great-grandchildren Lexie, Logan, Ella & Sophia; sister Lucille & Ray Schilling, Detroit; brother Lloyd & Mary, Miami, OK; sister Donna & Ron Selvey, Bolivar; and nephews, nieces & friends. She is preceded in death by parents Herbert & Alvina Holtzen. Ruth was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church & Springfield Vintage Motor Club. Church & family were the center of her life; she loved cooking for family & celebrating with them. She published a Holtzen genealogy & enjoyed sewing & crafts. The family thanks Springfield Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center for its care & compassion. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM. Monday, March 10,at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, 1947 E. Seminole. Services 11 AM Tuesday, March 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church building fund.
