Obituary

Oliver Russell Sade 94 of Springfield, MO passed away June 24, 2017.  He was born to Frank and Della(Shelton) Sade in Douglas County on July 23, 1922.  Russell is survived by his wife, Elvena Eagleburger Sade and their children: Boyd (Connie), Joyce (Don) and Mike (Rita) along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Russell served 5 years in the U.S. Army having received the Good Conduct Medal, two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.  After returning to Springfield he served on the Springfield Police Department and then the U.S. Postal Service retiring after 30 years of service.  During retirement, he served on the Postal & Federal Employee Credit Union Board, he and Elvena traveled, spent winters in Texas and polka dancing.  If there was a polka Festival they were on the road to attend.  He was a craftsman who took great pride and pleasure in building homes and furniture for his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a son-in-law.

Visitation will be June 27, 2017 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Russell's honor to Pathways United Methodist Church, 1232 E. Dale, Springfield, MO 65803.
