Russell "Bud" Morton, 95, passed away January 9, 2021 at Cox South Hospital following complications from Covid-19.

Russell was born September 3, 1925 to Russell and Alzie Morton.  He attended school in Fair Grove, Missouri. Following high school, he joined the US Navy and served as a gunner on a Navy aircraft during WWII.  In 1955 he married Lois Yarberry with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage. Russell was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church for many years.

Russell is preceded in death by his wife Lois; his parents; brothers Robert, Gene, Wayne, Bill and Maurice; sister Jewell Headlee and nephews, Wesley Headlee, Aaron Morton and Brad Morton.

He is survived by his brother Thomas (Suzy), sister Roberta, step-sister Betty Roller and several nieces, nephews and cousins.   The family would like to thank the staff at Willard Care Center for their care and support of Russell while he was a resident there.

Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. A private family service is planned for a later date. Arrangements are by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri.
