Russel Anthony Caldwell was born August 23, 1955 in London, England. Mr. Caldwell passed away December 10, 2011 in his home due to complications from pancreatitis. He is survived by his wife, Jane, of the home; his parents, Catherine and Tom Caldwell of Mildenhall, United Kingdom; brother, Terry and his long time partner Scotty Esquibel of Texas; brother, Andrew, who divides his residence between New York and London; stepdaughter, Amy Bergant; two grandchildren, Michael and Zoe; and a host of friends of Bill W. In his early twenties he traveled Europe and Africa extensively and began to apprentice under some of the most renowned chefs of the time and served in capacities as a banquet chef, sous chef and executive chef. His greatest honor in his career as an executive chef was coordinating an event for then Attorney General John Ashcroft and Mrs. Ashcroft. He was also the founding principle of Caldwell Construction Inc. He earned the Home Builders Association Education degrees, Master Builder, Graduate Remodeler and was the first Remodeler to earn the Presidency of his local HBA chapter. Mr. Caldwell was instrumental in working behind the scenes to make Springfield a better community for those who suffered economic challenges. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. with funeral services on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
