ROY THOMAS SWAFFORD, resident of Battlefield, Missouri was born November 11, 1941 in Berryville, Arkansas to Jewel Swafford and Bea (King) Swafford. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 74.

Roy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1960-1964.

On September 16, 1963 he was united in marriage to Geraldine (Romero) Swafford, who survives him. Roy and Geraldine celebrated their fifty-third anniversary this year. He is also survived by three children; Chris Swafford and wife Edna of Inola, Oklahoma, Timothy Swafford of Battlefield, Missouri, and Jill Sorbian and husband Andrew of Battlefield, Missouri. He is also survived by grandsons, Joshua Swafford and Nicholas Swafford of Springfield, Missouri; granddaughters, Lucia Swafford of Inola, Oklahoma, and Tara Ammerman of Nashville, Tennessee.  He is also survived by his sister Joyce Hastings of Cassville, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jewel Swafford; mother, Wanda Bea Swafford; and infant brother, Jewette Swafford.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Gorman- Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield.  A visitation will precede the service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
