Obituary

Rowland K. Riehl, 85, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on January 26, 2014, in St. Johns Mercy Hospital. Rowland was born February 16, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo. He graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1946 and joined the Army where he achieved the rank of corporal. In August 1955, Rowland married Jane Crutsinger. Rowland worked as a cartographer for the Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace Center until he retired in 1984. Rowland always found time to get involved with any organizations his children were interested in, which included Indian Guides, Boy Scouts, and Khoury League baseball. He enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball, fishing, and taking his family camping with the Muletrain Camping Group. He was also a member and past president of the Frontenac Lions Club in St. Louis. Rowland was preceded in death by Rowland Rudolph Riehl (father); Methilda (Ludwig) Riehl (mother); and Jane (Crutsinger) Riehl (wife of 27 years). He is survived by his sister Pat Reichel and her husband Reverend Gene Reichel; sister Joan Horter; son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Jan (Bledsoe); daughter and son-in-law Katherine and Martin Hooper; daughter Marti Anne Winfree; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Cheryl (Garland) Riehl; and grandchildren Ashley, Tracy, Martin, Amanda, and Cory. Rowland K. Riehl's memorial service will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd, Springfield, on Wednesday, Feb 5, 2014, at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions to help cover final expenses can be sent to 1735 E. Cardinal, Springfield, Mo, 65804.
