Rovelle Bersted, 71, Springfield, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 in Lakewood Arbors.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 18, 1946 to Wesley and Jaqueline (Allaben) Bois. She married Chris Bersted on August 20, 1966 and they moved to Texas to further their education. She attended Knox College and TCU where she received a BA in History and English and later attend SMSU and graduated with an MBA (Accounting emphasis). She retired from Springfield City Utilities after 24 years as Director of Internal Auditing.
After graduating she worked as a CPA and received a silver medal on her CPA exam in 1978. She worked for CU as a Senior Accountant and Director of Internal Auditing. In 1991, she received a gold medal on her Certified Internal Auditor exam. She also received a CISA in 1988 and a CCSA in 1991. She was active in the local chapter Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) since inception in 1989 until retirement in 2003. She was also active in the international IIA. She was a member of Membership Committee and Board of Regents, Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP) and a member of the Board that helped develop the exam. She was an active volunteer at The Kitchen, Inc. and Lakewood Arbors in her early retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Bersted; daughter and her husband, Shari and Drew Hamilton, Columbia, MO; son and his wife, Thor and Catherine Bersted, Jamesville, MO; three grandchildren, Kate Hamilton (11), Colin Bersted (8) and Ellen Bersted (4).
Rovelle was the most kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend anyone could ever know. She will be missed by all those lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2017 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. The celebration will continue after the service at Lavender Falls Farm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, The Kitchen Inc., or Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
