Obituary

Ida Rosette (Rose) Walsh, 94 of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in the morning in Primrose Place following a short illness. Rose was born in the home near Marionville, Missouri on August 22, 1914 to Virgil Claud and Ruby Cummings. Rose was united in marriage to Lewis C. Walsh on March 16, 1941 and to this union one son was born. Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lewis a retired employee of the U. S. Medical Center, her parents, and three brothers, Claud, Jack and Howard. She is survived by her son, Jerry C. Walsh, daughter-in-law, Myoung Sun of Springfield, three nephews, a niece and numerous great-nephews. Rose was an active member of her community serving as a teacher for a short period in the McKinley one-room school, as a Bible School Teacher at the Broadway and Madison Church of Christ which later relocated to become the Sunset Church of Christ, she was a Life Member of Cox Hospital Auxiliary serving from 1974 and as President of the Auxiliary from 1994-1996 accumulating over 13,000 volunteer hours. She was a great cook and enjoyed bread making and entertaining friends in the home. Funeral services will be Friday, March 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with Joe Bright officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, March 26 from 4 to 6 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Haven Children's Home, 3132 N. Fair Haven Loop, Strafford, MO 65757, (417-862-6675).
