Rosemary Carpino was born July 31, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri to Lewis and Noalene Hartman. She departed this life on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the age of 84. She attended school at Kansas City East High School. While visiting relatives as a child, she met the love of her life, John Carpino. They married in Kansas City, Kansas on October 29, 1945, and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2002 after 56 years of marriage. Rosemary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Carolyn Carpino; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Rodney Loomer; grandchildren, Manden Matz, her husband Doug Matz, Betsy Loomer, Cameron Carpino and Tessa Carpino. After successfully raising Kathy and Steve, Rosemary spent 15 years working with children in the daycare industry. While living in Kansas City, Rosemary was active in both her local Episcopal church and Bible study. In 1993, Rosemary and John moved to Springfield to be closer to family. Rosemary was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and volunteered for many years at Next-to-New. She was a beloved "adopted" grandmother of many and will be dearly missed. Graveside services will be held, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Hazelwood Cemetery, with Jonathan Frazier officiating and musical accompaniment by Gail Miller, a new friend from Rosie's Arbors family. A visitation will follow in the home of Rod and Kathy Loomer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rosemary's name to the Southwest Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 1630 W. Elfindale, Springfield, Mo 65807, or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
