Ronnie Dean Wood (Ron) was born January 6, 1947 in Springfield, Missouri. He passed away on July 16, 2021 at his home in Republic, Missouri. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Ellis and Bertha Hammons Wood of Mtn. Grove, Missouri and his brother Randy Wood.

Ron married Beverly LaFollette on May 13, 1972 in Falmouth, Kentucky, and they enjoyed 49 years together.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly, and two sons: David (Julie) Wood of Ozark, Missouri, grandsons Ryan and Cooper Wood; and Joseph Wood (Anita) of Fair Grove, Missouri.   He is also survived by numerous relatives and friends.

Ron served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam, attaining the rank of Sergeant.  Later, he used the GI Bill to complete his Bachelor of Science Degree at Morehead State University.

Ron owned and operated numerous businesses throughout the years including Wood Family Trucking.

Ron and Bev enjoyed traveling and visiting new places.

He was an avid bass fisherman, and Ron cherished the time he was able to spend on the lake with his sons, David and Joe.  One of his greatest joys in later life was watching his beloved grandsons, Ryan and Cooper, play baseball.

Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Haven Hospice for the compassionate care they provided for Ron in his last days.  Two special nurses, Kristen and Maryanne, went above and beyond in caring for Ron.

Graveside service will be Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM with full military honors at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.  No visitation is scheduled.
