Obituary

Ronald J. Haik, 75, of Springfield, MO went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ron was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. He was born in 1937 to Joe and Mary Haik. He had five brothers and seven sisters. Ron married Margaret Reznicek on May 2nd, 1959 and they enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage. Ron graduated from Springfield Senior High School in 1955, and served in the United States National Guard. Ron worked in and then owned the family business, until he retired in 2011. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends at his lake house. Ron's favorite pastime was spending time outdoors and boating with his children and grandchildren on Table Rock Lake. Ron thoroughly enjoyed life. Ron loved people, and was a friend to everyone, he never met a stranger. Ron's genuine warmth, generosity, and loving smile touched everyone he met. Ron will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary Haik; a brother, James; two sisters, Marlys Zind and Gloria Haik and beloved grandson Ryan Haik. Ron is survived by his wife Margaret; six children and their spouses; David and Suzanne Haik, Terri and Gary Tombridge, Kevin and Mary Haik, Bryan and Shel Lee Haik, Diana and Kevin Cheek, and Kandice and Jeff Custer all of Springfield, and fourteen grandchildren; Jessica, Allison, Ashley, Bryson, Adam, Christopher, Spencer, Mariah, Autumn, Katie, Jacie, Alex, Tessa, and Eli and three great-grandchildren; Belle, Lukas, and Miles. Informal visitation will be Sunday, May 5, 2013 after 1:00pm in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Formal Visitation will be Monday, May 6, 2013 from 9:00am to 9:45am with Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 3322 S Campbell Ave, Suite G, Springfield, MO 65807 or to the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic at Mercy Children's Hospital 1235 E Cherokee St, Springfield, MO 65804 on his behalf. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of Mercy Hospital's Oncology, Hospice and Rehabilitation.
