Ronald D. Arell, 78, passed away in Springfield, MO. August 3rd, 2013. He was the youngest son of Robert Arell and Maggie (Henderson) Arell. He felt blessed to have such a loving family. After many years in St. Louis where he worked as a teacher then principal, then worked for Ozark Airlines. Ron Moved back to Springfield where he was a Chaplin at St. Johns Hospital (Mercy) until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Robert Arell, his sister Zoe Grider, many other family members, dear friends, and his long time friend and companion, Earl E. Bowman Jr. He is survived by his sisters Juanita Crawford, M. Jewell Higgins, Betty Meadors, sister-in-law Betty Arell, and many loving nieces and nephews. Ron enjoyed being with family and friends and traveling. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 5th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Dennis Doughtery celebrant, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Prayer services will be held at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home on Sunday August 5th with visitation to follow until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
