Obituary

Roger Lee Cissell, 82 of Springfield passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024.  He was born March 28, 1941 in Perryville, Missouri to Leo Peter and Melba F. (Hoffman) Cissell. Roger grew up in Perryville, MO until the age of 18 when he enlisted in the Air Force.  He served most of his duty in Spain.  After being discharged, he returned home and started working for The Pillsbury Company as a sales representative in the mid-1960's.  He stayed with Pillsbury for 40+ years.  He finished his career with Louisa Foods and The Schraad Food Brokerage Company.  He retired in 2019.

Roger stayed active in his retirement and spent much time with his wife and family.  He also loved working outside and made friends with our close neighbors.  Roger never had an enemy and blessed many lives.  He had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor that kept everyone smiling.

He was a member of Central Assembly of God. He loved his church and the members of his church life group.  He also was a long-term and enthusiastic member of Bible Study Fellowship and made many friends there.  He and his wife served many years leading the Alpha Ministry where he was blessed to see many people meet and follow Jesus.  He also loved serving as a greeter at church on Sundays.  He was his happiest meeting and talking to people.  He was quick to make friends and be a friend.

Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He will be so incredibly missed.   His family finds comfort knowing he is with Jesus in Heaven and we will see him again.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Cissell.

Roger is survived by his wife, Janice Cissell of the home; daughter, Tammy Bills and husband, Jeff of Woodland, CA; three sons, Steven Cissell and wife, Christal of Myrtle Beach, SC, Brian Dellinger, and Brad Dellinger and wife, Jennifer all of Springfield, MO; 11 grandchildren and 2 ½ great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, with Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, at Central Assembly. Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be on Wednesday, January 10 at 11:00 AM in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
