Rodney Eugene Smith, aged 69, of Springfield Missouri, passed away on Wednesday April 12, 2023.

Rodney was born in Springfield, Missouri to Charles and Joan Smith on October 8, 1953. After spending much of his childhood in Wichita Kansas, his family moved to Marshfield, Missouri in 1969, and he would graduate from Marshfield High School in 1971. He attended classes at Southwest Missouri State University. He worked his way up to store manager with Walmart, before entering law enforcement. He started as an officer in West Plains, Missouri, before moving back to Springfield where he would spend 21 years as a police officer. He was very involved as a leader for Boy Scouts of America and loved going on backpacking and kayaking trips. He was a Master of the Royal Secret of the 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite of freemasonry. His hobbies involved collecting and shooting firearms, cycling, camping, sports, and anything involving his children or grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Joan. He is survived by his wife Karen; his children Curtis Smith (Debby), Jennifer Jaber (Chris), and Alex; his sister Deborah Smith; and his grandchildren Everly Blake, Maven Monroe and Elle Olivia (Jennifer) and Haro Louise (Curtis).
