Roberta Jean Nicholson, 98, of Springfield, MO passed away February 25, 2022.

Roberta was born January 1,1924 in Everton, MO.  She graduated from Everton High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hixon and Frankie Hixon; husband Warren B. Nicholson; son, Joel B. Nicholson and sister, Laura Lee Hendricks.

Roberta married Warren B. Nicholson on June 7, 1947. They were married 64 years.

Roberta worked at Levy Wolf Department store in downtown Springfield, MO until her retirement in 1983. A group of Levy Wolf employees met for lunch monthly for many years.

Roberta was a longtime member of a pinochle club that met monthly for over 50 years. She also enjoyed playing pinochle with several other groups.  She was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield for over 60 years.   She taught Sunday School, was in the choir, the women's church circle and was a participant in the Mariners group.

She loved the St. Louis Cardinals and pro basketball.  Kevin Durant was her favorite player.  She would rather watch basketball than a Hallmark movie.

Roberta is survived by son, Gregory Nicholson and his wife Barbara of Mission Viejo, Ca; daughters Julie Nicholson and Tracy Huff of Springfield, MO. Grandchildren include Geoffrey Nicholson, Sean Nicholson (Brooke) and Korie Wiseman (Nate), Caitlyn Greene, Bailey Greene, Allyson Greene, Erin Richter (Eric) and Amy Huff and three great grandchildren and one on the way.

Memorial service will be Monday, March 7, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
