IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Warren
January 21, 1941 – September 24, 2015
Robert Henry Warren, third child of Robert Williams Warren and Anna Elizabeth Burns, was born January 21, 1941 and left us September 24, 2015 due to cardiac amyloidosis. Since he was born at home in San Antonio, TX unexpectedly, Robert was called "Speedy" by his older siblings Kay and Edwin. After his mother's tragic death when he was 18 months old, Robert's father married Elsie Parrish, and 3 years later brother Richard arrived. The family lived on numerous Air Force bases during Robert's childhood, spending some time in England. Robert served in the Navy, then attended Miami of Ohio, receiving a BA in Chemistry. He worked at various jobs over the course of his life including bridge painter, social worker, school teacher, and milk truck driver, but finally found his niche as a substance abuse counselor. In the 1970s Robert was part of the "back to the land" movement. He homesteaded an acreage in Wright Co, MO, building a house from the ground up. He was an avid gardener, creative chef, and steadfast supporter of the Greater Springfield Farmer's Market. Robert is survived by his wife, Sylvia; stepchild, Chris Wright; sister-in-law, Marilynn Chafield; son, Nathan and his wife Genevieve; daughter, Jennifer; brothers, Edwin (Jackqui) and Richard (Sherry); nephew, Tim Jones; and countless friends from NA, a fellowship he enjoyed for more than 30 years, and whose members became his family. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Zubair and Lorena from Cox Senior Health, Hospice Compassus, and all the neighbors and friends who have offered so much love and support over the past months. No services are planned.
